Characterization of the wake of a cross flow turbine, deployed close to the surface

The behaviour of a cross flow turbine, developed by Edinburgh and Exeter Universities has been studied in the wave and current flume tank in Boulogne/Mer.
The wake of the turbine has been characterized from Laser Doppler Velocity measurements (LDV 2D), until twenty times the diameter of the turbine.
The team welcomed under MARINET project will use this experimental database for numerical results comparisons.
The final objective of this work is to developed tools allowing to evaluate the behaviour of a turbine farm.
